A sensual and moving quartet, inspired by call girls circa the 1950’s in New York.
Hush-Hush was originally inspired by photos taken of New York call girls circa the 1950’s, when scandal photography was truly beginning to make its mark. These striking photos contain images of women hiding their faces, with handkerchiefs, gloves, hats and newspapers. Some with their nude bodies on full display, others fully clothed in what could easily be perceived as middle-class garb. Hush-Hush has grown to reflect the entire history of women’s sexuality. With the combination of dance, theatre, costume, music, character, and other visual arts, this dance enchants the audience and shares with them in human experience. Hush-Hush is my commentary on, and comprehension of, our social views on sexuality in America.
