Project Sugar Dance Company was formed in 2004 by choreographer and dancer Jesse Dell. With a focus on bridging the gap between dance and the general public Project Sugaroften includes theatrical characters, costumes and sets, live music and vocal work, as well as other artistic mediums including film, video projection and sculpture. This young company is praised for their intellegent and mesmerizing performances. In addition to their athletic movement and enchanting choreography, they entertain the mind. Project Sugar addresses current political and social topics as well as historical events, and issues around physical beauty, gender, sexuality, social class, laws and policies. Project Sugar aims to motivate and inspire people to listen to and respect their bodies and the bodies that surround us. Beyond entertainment and communication through movement, Project Sugar aspires to create positive social change on a grass roots level.

Project Sugar has been performing in theatres and bars around Toronto, Ontario and Montreal since their conception in 2004. Performing in an array of different dance and music festivals including the fringe Festival of Independent Dance Artists, A Choreographers Ball, International Dance Day, The Hysteria Festival and Nuit Blanche amoung others. Project Sugar has always and continues to work very closely with The Scandelles, a theatrical, socio-political neo-burlesque theatre company. In 2006 Project Sugar and The Scandelles enjoyed a two week sold out run of The Scandelles production of 'Under the Mink', at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. In January of 2008 Project Sugar joined forces with The Sacndelles again in the highly acclaimed 'Who's Your Dada?', also at Buddies and Bad Times Theatre.
